Maddy had her tonsils and adenoids removed yesterday (Thursday). Her surgery only took 26 minutes, and she was home after about 4 hours. When we went to the hospital, she got a kick out of riding in the golf cart from the car to the door. Her surgery wasn't until 11am, so she couldn't eat or drink anything from midnight on. While we were getting ready, she said, "When I get home, I'm gonna eat 2 popsicles, a doughnut, and a corndog!" I felt so bad because she had NO idea how hard that would be! She wasn't scared at all at the hospital! She colored her new Care Bears coloring book and said "Bye" when they wheeled her back. After she woke up, she never even fell asleep until bedtime! The Dr. told us that her adenoids were blocking over 60% of her nasal passage! Poor thing! That is probably why she snored like a polar bear.
Bedtime on the other hand was another story. She started to cough, which made her bleed. We were watching it, and then at 2:30, she woke up and started throwing up tons of old blood. When I say tons, I mean enough to ruin all of her bedding and her pajamas. Dave put her in the bathtub while I cleaned her up, and she felt so much better. She ate a popsicle in the tub and went back to sleep until morning! I felt so bad for her. the next day she said, "Dang it. I threw up and I didn't use the bucket." She was so worried about it but there was NO time!
Today she has been great...has eaten eggs, pudding, popsicles, fruitsnacks, and more eggs! She is the easiest sick kid too. The other kids would be very dramatic and everything would hurt and they would cry a lot, but she just says, "my neck is starting to hurt a little", we give her the medicine, and she keeps on going. She is loving the fact that she is staying up late though while the other kids are in bed. This is because we found her asleep from 5-7:30. She went and closed the door and laid down all by herself. How sweet. Even though she has been hurt, she never misses a beat with Rowan. She still feeds him, holds him, and plays with him whenever she can. She is just the sweetest girl ever!
