| Declan just LOVES his Dad! |
Declan has learned so many new tricks lately and I bet he will be crawling within the next few weeks. NO one believes me, but he is kind of spoiled and is a real stinker to me when he is not being held. He is all smiles and laughs when people pay attention to me, so no one ever believes me that he screams a lot in the day!
Rowan also loves his Dad and wants to be just like him. He wears his shoes around the house EVERY DAY, follows him around with tools or when he mows the lawn, tries to help him fix sprinklers and follows him into the shower. He is getting better at talking. He said, "Plee, Mom." It was so sweet that I gave him half of my drink yesterday when he kept asking! He says Vroom Vroom for cars and trucks, quack quack, roar, duck, dog, wuf, and "all done".
Dawson, Brooklyn, Maddy and I made Blue Goo while Mason was at scout camp last week. It was a huge mess but entertained them for a good part of the afternoon.
Cute Maddy moment: We were talking in the car about setting goals and what we will do when we achieve them. The kids have a REALLY hard time putting effort into things and doing their best and it drives Dave and I CRAZY! Mason and Brooklyn have to learn 10 easy hymns, Maddy has to be able to write the #s 1-100 in less than 10 minutes, and Dawson has to do all of his addition/subtraction facts in one minute for each group. They each have a reward for when they are done. As a family, we are memorizing the 13 Articles of Faith. I told them that I wanted to learn how to play a long, hard piano song. They asked me why and Maddy said, "It is probably for her babe love." She was talking about Dave and it was so sweet!
Running at the track. I just love this shot! Today we ran again and Mason ran a mile in 6:59! Holy smokes. There is no way that I can beat him any more. The other impressive thing is that Maddy ran 3 miles in 31:38! I could not believe it. While we were running she said, "I am pretty much doing this just for Dad!" I was cracking up. She is so tough! Dawson was with us and he ran around once and wussed out! She is amazing!
Maddy at the pool. She and Dawson did 100 flips into the pool, so they each got $1 which they used to buy a popsicle from the ice cream man.
Declan is sucking on a lemon. Gross! He loved it. Go figure. He doesn't like real food but loves the taste of lemons and mustard ( and ice cream with Magic Shell).

Mason is amazing at putting Declan to sleep. He sings him the Star Spangled Banner and rocks him with so much patience! It is so sweet and he takes pride in doing it every time.
We made lava lamps as a science experiment this week. It cost about $16 to do 4 of them between the pop to have the 2L bottles and all of the oil. Pinterest is now getting expensive, but the kids loved it! My funny Dawson story for the day: We have been reading Superfudge as a family and tonight, the chapter was all about how Santa isn't real and Peter and Fudge find out. I started to sense where the book was going, so I tried to make up my own words to avoid any thoughts of doubt about Santa. I paused for awhile, pretending that I lost my place and started with the word "he". Dawson started laughing and said, "You don't know the word he? Maybe you should do reading." If he only knew what I was trying to do!
Brooklyn celebrated Pioneer Day with Achievement Day Girls learning how to be a pioneer girl. She milked a cow, herded cows, made homemade chicken noodle soup, bread and yogurt, washed clothes on a washboard and hung them to dry, etc. She LOVED it and was very proud of her cute farm girl outfit that we came up with!

Drive In Movie Theater. Rowan kept saying "Vroom Vroom"
We had a drive in movie theater in our house tonight! The kids decorated their "cars" and used tickets and money to buy their concessions before watching "Mirror, Mirror." It was a lot of work to get it ready, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much the kids seemed to enjoy it.
Maddy stayed in her "car" the entire movie! Declan did not make it more than 5 minutes, but he is so sweet!
Dave and I both agree that putting Rowan to bed is the most wonderful part of the day. Not because we want him to go to bed, although sometimes that is true, but because he is so incredibly sweet. Once we get past the horror of brushing his teeth, he picks out a book. EVERY TIME he picks "Does A Kangaroo Have a Mother Too?". He skips the first three pages and goes straight to the penguins, then the bears, where he says "roar", the dolphins, the sheep "baa", the monkeys (he scratches his pits and says, "ahh" "ahh") and the swans "quack". At the end, he says, "All do" for all done and turns to sing his special song. Tonight he started to sing me his own song and I almost cried. After songs, he points to his bed. He gets blanky and now likes a blanket over his body. Then he blows us a kiss good night. Tonight, Dave wasn't home and he put his hands up and said, "Dad?" I told him that Dad loved him too, he smiled, turned over and went to sleep. My heart just melts every night. I wish all kids were that fun to put to sleep and I wish it would last FOREVER!
