On October 8, Maddy turned 3!!!! We decorated her room, and she was so excited to wake up to balloons! Dave was working so I had the kids (off school for potato harvest) all day. We painted pumpkins that we latered decorated, and although it was very messy, it was a lot of fun. For lunch, we took McDonald's out to the potato farms where the kids' mom was working and had lunch with her so that she could see Maddy on her birthday. We rode in the potato truck, toured the cellars where they are stored, and had cupcakes to celebrate Maddy's special day. After Dave got home from work, Trever, Grandma, and Grandpa all came over for cake and presents. She got an apron to match Brooklyn and I, duplo blocks, tinkerbell socks, a princess book, a crayola rake, and a new bike. She was very excited about everything, and it is so fun to watch her grow up. She says, "I Madelyn Allen. I three." All in all, a pretty great day!
Still 2 years old....
The Birthday girl!
Decorating pumpkins. It took an extra hours for hers to dry!
Her new apron!Licking the frosting off of her birthday cupcakes.
On another note, I learned A TON about the potato harvest. Like a lot of people, I thought that they were hand-picked, not scooped up by huge machines, and I never knew just HOW MANY potatoes are harvested each year. It was such a learning experience, and I still can't believe I live near the farms! :)
Look at the size of that potato!
